Our six-month English saddle fitting and flocking course is designed to equip students with essential skills and knowledge of the trade. Our curriculum utilizes a holistic approach, covering topics such as horse and rider anatomy, biomechanics, saddle construction, and fit customization for both horse and rider. Class size is limited to six students, ensuring ample individual attention and hands-on practice opportunities. Students will attend three 4-day immersive classroom sessions where they will gain hands-on experience with our lead trainers as their guide. These classes are supplemented with both group and personalized Zoom meetings and coursework includes immersive case studies to gain practical knowledge. Successful graduates will emerge with confidence, ready to begin their own saddle-fitting business or work for a saddle company, armed with a robust network of mentors and peers to support their continued growth and success.
Western Fitting
This is the only hands-on comprehensive and brand-independent Western saddle fitting course in the country! Our six-month course ensures a well-rounded understanding of Western saddlery, providing students with comprehensive training in the art of fitting and adjusting a wide array of Western saddle types. Students will delve into horse and rider anatomy, biomechanics, fit customization as well as saddle construction, trees, fitting with shims, and Western discipline-specific styles and preferences. With a maximum class size of six students, participants benefit from personalized attention and hands-on learning opportunities. Throughout the course, students will engage in a blend of practical workshops and classroom sessions, supplemented by three 4 day in-person meetings, case studies, apprentice hours, and Zoom sessions between classes. By the end of the program, graduates will possess a thorough comprehension of Western saddle construction and fitting techniques, empowering them to launch successful careers in the field.
